ABUS 83003 Shackle, 3" Special Alloy fits 83/45

Quality ABUS shackles the work perfectly with my 83/45 series. But thought I’d point out something not everyone understands about 83 series (S2) locks. The ”Z-Bar” converts key-retaining to non-key-retaining and vice versa. Some may choose to simply flip the z-bar over to make it non-key-retaining and that is fine. However, in this configuration, it doubles as a shackle release tool. If you flip the lock upside down and fully turn the key (against the spring tension) clockwise, the shackle will fall right out. If you would rather not have this configuration, but still want non-key-retaining, simply remove the z-bar entirely. For 83 series (S2) locks, you don’t need the ABUS shackle release tool. Enjoy!
