HON File Cabinet Lock Kits (Vertical Files)

We often receive questions about which HON file cabinet lock kit should be purchased. We are not able to reference Manufacturer model numbers to suggest which lock kit you need, however a quick way to determine which lock type you might need is to measure the mounting hole (the oval knock-out). Please review the size requirements on the F24 style and F26 style pages below.

Please review the pdf installation instructions file on each of the detailed product pages to ensure you are ordering the correct kit. Hint: If you have other cabinets in the office, you might compare the lock installed in your existing cabinets with the parts shown in the individual lock kits. 

Locks kits are available keyed random or keyed to specific lock numbers, such as #1, #5, #10 etc.... this allows the user to purchase groups of locks that work with the same key, or to designate office areas to work with the same key, or will allow the purchase of additional locks keyed to a specific key number at a later date. Keyed random locks will not match a specific key number, and we can not match a keyed random key number at a later date. The key types are different styles on the F24 and F26 kits, so we cannot match a F24 style key to a F26 style key.

**** Special Note ****

The 2185/F24 style kit we stock now include the adapter plate to retro-fit to the older HON vertical file cabinets. If you do not specifically need the F26 plunger style, or are not sure which kit you need please purchase the 2185 - F24 style. 

Kits & parts do not include detailed instructions, therefore some existing knowledge of the file cabinet mechanisms will be helpful, also reviewing the product images will offer some installation insight.
